Tax Manager - Leading Investment Manager - London
Maldon Partners are currently recruiting on behalf of a leading Investment Manager. Our client was established with the aim of providing institutional clients with excellent investment returns through a company-focused approach to investment in emerging markets.

Due to the growing amount of tax related work, the intention of this new Tax Manager role is they will eventually lead on all aspects of tax work and the tax compliance of a number ofinternational partnerships, corporate entities, as well as theirinternationally-domiciled Funds. Due to the small nature of the team the candidate will be expected to get involved in aspects of the broader Finance Team’s work and conversely members of the Finance Team will be there to support the tax work. Candidates should note that this is not a product design/investment tax structuring role.
Key Responsibilities:
Partnership and Corporate Taxation
– Ensure the tax risk exposure of the Group meets the Partners’ overall low tax risk appetite
– Manage the preparation and process of UK, US Federal and US State Partnership taxation returns and their timely distribution to Partners and their tax accountants
– Manage the preparation and process of Corporate Tax Returns for UK and Australian entities
– Monitoring UK and relevant international tax developments, the drafting of tax position documents and validation by service providers
– Establish a framework for the OECD Base Erosion and Profit Shifting Project, including the review and update of transfer pricing documentation and County by Country Reporting
– Preparation of VAT returns and PSA agreements
– Liaise with HMRC including assisting enquiries and applications for non-statutory clearance
– Documentation and disclosure of Large Business Compliance requirements
– Ad-hoc projects
Fund Taxation
– Ensure the tax compliance for all Funds. This involves managing the tax service providers for funds domiciled in Luxembourg, United States, Guernsey and Australia as well as legacy funds domiciled in Cayman, Dublin, Mauritius and Cyprus
– Monitor and ensure compliance with international transaction taxes (CGT/WHT) across all (38) emerging market countries where client funds are invested
– Manage the governance of the Fund’s Automatic Exchange of Information including FATCA, CDOT and CRS reporting by service providers
– Maintain an effective control framework to manage risk, mitigate errors, breaches and prevent complaints
– Be the main point of contact for external tax advisors
– Ad-hoc tax projects
Accounting Support
– Assist the Finance team with administration, finance and investor matters, including external and internal reporting
Applicants should be qualified (ACA, CTA or equivalent) with a minimum of 2 years post qualification experience and strong knowledge of UK tax. The following experience is desirable, though not essential; experience within the UK asset management industry, experience of UK and US Partnerships, Operational tax compliance experience including FATCA and experience of International transaction taxes. The client sees this as a good opportunity for an experienced candidate from practice to leverage their experience to date into a broad and challenging role in house.
