Senior Communications Engineer (Cyprus)


Role Description


We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Communications Engineer to join our Communications, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (CISR) team working within Defence Systems Technology (DST), based in Cyprus. DST is a business unit in the Marine & Technology Division of Babcock International Group.


This is a permanent, full time position.


Responsibilities


As a Senior Communications Engineer you will carry out preventative and corrective maintenance ensuring that the transmitters, receivers and associated control equipment perform to operational requirements.


Required Skills and Experience / Qualifications


  • Qualified to BTEC National Diploma in Engineering (Electronic / Electrical) or equivalent.

  • Proven experience in a similar role.

  • Competence in solving technical issues and awareness of future technical developments.

  • Strong time management skills/used to working to demanding timescales.

  • Strong awareness/experience of Health and Safety Regulations and safe working practices.

  • Good knowledge of data communications and networking technologies.

  • Experience of working with high power transmitters as required by specific sites.

  • Excellent IT and communication skills to include Server 2008 and Windows 7.

  • Conscientious and enthusiastic with a can do attitude.

You will also require:

  • A willingness to travel within the UK and Overseas to support other sites as required.

  • A full UK Driving Licence.

  • To be eligible for SC level (UK) security clearance.

Location

This position is based at the Salt Lake Transmitter Station in Cyprus.


Security


Successful candidates will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements and may be required to complete a medical assessment.


The role will be in an environment regulated by Trade Control legislation and involve working with controlled goods, technology and/or services. This may require you to meet enhanced security and regular screening checks.
