Division:


The International Division forms a key part of Debenhams strategy to develop as a leading international, multi-channel brand. We already trade in over 70 stores and are developing exciting plans for further growth


As part of this growth, we have an exciting opportunity for a Territory Operations Manager – Cyprus (maternity cover), to join our International Division. Currently Cyprus is our second largest partner with 7 stores across the country. It is our only current joint venture within the International markets and therefore it is a market which is key to our International growth.


The role will be based in London at our Regents Place headquarters.


Job Role:


  • You will be working in collaboration with Franchise Partner Operational Managers and International Territory teams to deliver operational excellence in line with Debenhams brand standards within Cyprus.

  • Build and manage effective relationships between Franchise Partners and Head Office teams to drive operational excellence.

  • Coach and train Franchise Partner Operational Managers on brand standards required for all retail operations.

  • Coach Franchise Partner Operational Managers to develop the skills to drive profitability by analysing commercial data, growing sales, drive promotional activity, control costs and effectively manage space.

  • Identify where operational standards do not meet Debenhams brand standards and challenge this with the relevant Franchise Partner or escalate to the Sales Director for effective resolution.

  • This role takes operational expertise to the territory and progressively develops the skillset of the local teams.

  • Able to make important decisions that fit the territory business in varied markets; whilst maintaining Debenhams standards.

  • Ultimately the target is to drive like for like sales and profit for both the partner and Debenhams.

Candidate requirements:

  • Previous experience in a front line operational role is essential, along with proven general retail management skills, including highly developed visual merchandising skills.

  • Sound understanding of all retail operational processes including buying and merchandising, space planning, marketing, finance, logistics & distribution functions processes and timelines.

  • Good understanding of varying retail markets and competitors.

  • Macro knowledge of economic, social and political conditions within specific International markets.

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills along with excellent coaching and influencing skills.

  • You will need to be proactive, innovative, self-motivated and able to work remotely.

  • It must be noted that this role requires extensive travel to Cyprus.

Candidate requirements:

To be considered for this position you will have worked as a Store Manager or equivalent in the UK or ROI and be a real self-starter. Given the time differences you will have the ability to make sound commercial decisions with the minimum of guidance.


We’re looking for someone who has proven general retail management skills, including highly developed visual merchandising skills, strong operational understanding and be customer led in all of your thinking. Coaching skills are essential to deliver results through others.


The successful candidate will possess the ability to build effective working relationships and have the technical knowledge to analyse commercial information and interpret policies / procedures and to ensure they are relevant to the Cypriot Market.
