JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB PURPOSE


To support the general accounting and financial processing functions for UK & Cyprus entities.


To help ensure the integrity and timeliness of monthly US GAAP financial statements and balance sheet accounting, and deadlines are met.


Responsible for timely and accurate balance sheet accounting for UK & Cyprus entities.


To provide internal customers with financial information, reports and analysis as required.


To act as a deputy to the UK General Accounting Manager when required.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


Support the UK General Accounting Manager with general accounting and support for financial processing functions of UK & Cyprus Finance. The main purpose is to help ensure the team meets the needs of its customers – including Corporate and Regional Accounting, UK Operational Finance, UK Management Team, Tax and Statutory Accounting, Internal & External Auditors.


Help ensure timely and accurate financial processing, reporting and analysis, including:


Meeting monthly financial reporting deadlines in line with Corporate & Regional requirements.


Providing the Operational Finance team with routine and ad-hoc information required to support the business.


Compliance with Company Policies, Procedures and best practices.


Ensure standardised systems, processes and controls are in place for timely balance sheet reconciliations and resolution of issues. Ensure all balance sheet reconciliations are prepared and reviewed on a timely basis and issues are escalated and resolved. Work with Corporate on the annual balance sheet review process and ensure timely follow up and resolution of issues.


Help with compliance with Controls Self-Assessment requirements, identification and resolution of control issues and communication of issues to relevant management.


Work with Accenture to ensure optimum utilization of the BPO for general accounting. Help to ensure issue resolution and escalate service quality issues as required.


Provide ad-hoc analysis and reports and assist with special projects as required by management.


The position will require ability to travel to other parts of the UK as required.


QUALIFICATIONS

Essential


Part Qualified or Qualified Accountant (recognised International Qualification such as CA, ACCA or CIMA).


Experienced in balance sheet accounting and monthly management reporting.


Knowledge and experience in US GAAP accounting.


Knowledge and experience of internal controls.


Preferred


Knowledge/experience of oil service business.


Knowledge/experience of Sarbanes Oxley and other SEC and FCPA requirements.


COMPETENCIES: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Essential


Experience in accounting systems such as JDE, and financial reporting systems such as Hyperion.


Experience in data analysis and reporting, eg. Using excel models.


Good communication and presentation skills (both written & oral)


Ability to use initiative and make suggestions for improvement.


Good team worker, with ability to communicate effectively, with a customer-service approach.


Analytical awareness and problem solving skills


Preferred


A good working knowledge of WFT accounting procedures and controls would be an advantage.
